How this is calculated
Profit per order = selling price − cost of goods sold − shipping cost you cover − payment processing fees (percentage + fixed fee) − any other per-order costs. Margin is that profit expressed as a percentage of the selling price.
The defaults use Shopify Payments’ typical online rate (2.9% + £0.30) — adjust it to match your actual processor and rate if different.

Why is this different from the margin Shopify shows me?
Shopify's built-in profit reporting (where available) typically only nets out cost of goods sold. This calculator also factors in shipping you cover and payment processing fees, which quietly eat into margin on every order.
What if my payment processing rate is different?
Adjust the percentage and fixed fee fields to match your actual processor's rate — these vary by provider, currency, and card type.
